I have a rather odd problem. I have no audio despite the fact that I have all the audio codecs (the latest ac3 filter, ffdshow, divx and xvid codecs) installed. It doesn’t even decode the dvd’s.

I use mplayer classic, wmp 10 but neither one works. I also tried the vlc player.

I recently upgraded to xp pro sp2 from sp2. Might that be the cause of my problems? that is, the codecs are not actually installed because sp2 doesn’t let them even though i see no error messages.

somebody said reinstalling quartz.dll helped in a different forum. is it possible and where can i find clean dll’s?

Thanks for any pointers!
