I have a movie in two file folders one with obs-mra.r## (like obs-mra.r01, obs-mra.r02) and the other with obs-mrb.r##... files. Do I need to reassemble these files into some format that my computer can see that it is a movie? Each file is approx. 14.3 MB... I have about 60 files in each folder.

Is there software to accomplish my quest? If so, where can I find it? huh

Download WinRAR (http://www.rarlab.com/), or there are opensource programs that can do it, such as:

7 Zip - http://sourceforge.net/projects/sevenzip/

What you want to do is right-click on one of the packs, then choose to Extract files to your desired location. All the files will be extracted and merged.

Thanks so much!

After much research I finally figured out that they are WinRAR files that I need to unzip, !smiley Thank you so much for assisting me. But now that presents a new question. Once they are unzipped, how do I put them together again so I can watch the movie.

They will unzip into BIN & CUE files. I now know that I can use VideoLan to play BIN & CUE files, but that works on files that are already together.

To finish watching this movie and backing it up, I need to find out:

1.) How to assemble the unzipped RAR files into a viewable movie?

2.) How to backup this movie onto a CD or DVD?

When I have attempted to backup BIN files with Nero or Roxio, neither recognize the file type... so I don’t know which options to select ie: make a backup, burn an image, copy data files, make a CD, copy a VCD etc. All the questions that Nero 6 Ultra Edition takes me through... or do I use Nero Express. ?smiley Too many options for this beginner.

I really appreciate all the helpful people. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance!

Response to mouser:

I finally found the answer to that question. !smiley I hope this helps:

The bunch of little files in a folder are WinRAR files. You can go to: http://www.winrar-rog.com/ to download a free trial of WinRAR. You need to unzip the files, it’s pretty straightforward. They are compressed files that should unzip into BIN & CUE files. If you simply want to view the files you also need to go to: http://www.videolan.org/ and download a free copy of VideoLAN media player.

To view your BIN & CUE files: On the VideoLAN player tool bar Select: File... Open File... Browse for your first BIN file... click OK. It should begin to play the video. Note: there is a view full screen option from the tool bar or in the upper right hand corner.

Hope this helps. If you have any more questions, please post them here and I will try to get back to you. Good Luck!

For mouser again.

Thought this might help.

After you download WinRAR, Start WinRAR, then you would open the WinRAR folder with all the small files, on the tool bar: Edit, Select All (to select all the small files), Extract to... and extract them to whatever file location you want them to go to.

Hope this was helpful.

Good info RedheadGirl smiley

One other thing mouser. WinRAR opens many types of files (archives). It can open .rar, .tar, .zip etc.

Sometimes you may get a single .TAR file, which has multiple .RAR files inside it. In that situation you’d first extract the .RAR files out of the .TAR. Then double-click on one of the multiple .RAR files, and extract. The resulting file should be your final complete file - the one that’s playable.

To FrightFoO,

Thank you for your kind words! (and the new info about the TAR files and the new link!) smiley

I share because someone had shared with me. So, here’s a new one so I can learn some more interesting things to know. I have a FLAC music files but I don’t know what software will play it. I have tried JukeBox and SonicStage they don’t recognize FLAC files. Any ideas?

I would like to play the music and possibly create a backup.

I just found a bunch of FLAC players, but still would love to know which is the better to use. I downloaded dBpowerAMP... and FLAC 1.1.0k with installer... etc. Are you familar with any of these?

Still would like to play and create a backup. Thank you in advance. I look forward to your reply. You will save me from installing all of the downloads... LOL!

Yip, dBpowerAMP is a player that’s packed with features. It should play the files fine. There is also a component of it which converts FLAC files to .WAV (http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm). This conversion is needed as there are very few stereo systems or portable players that accept FLAC format.

If you’re interested in purchasing a player that does read FLAC, here one:

u can use alcohol its a deamon tool that can map the bin file to a virtual drive without need to burn it otherwise just burn it and replace the crack after installation if given.
