HEY GUYS, I MAY APPEAR TO BE LATE, BUT I JUST DOWNLOADED A VIDEO THAT WOULD NOT WORK “CODEC 75”, WHILE RESEARCHING THE CODEC I CAME ACROSS THIS INFORMATIVE SITE, I REALLY ENJOYED READING THOSE REMARKABLE SOLUTIONS, BUT I MUST THANK BAM, FOR THE SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME. THE WEBSITE http://www.keystonelearning.com/faq.asp REALLY WORKS. SPECIAL THANKS TO JOHN, I DIDNOT KNOW “mplayer2” EXSISTED. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, FELLAS.

http://www.keystonelearning.com/faq.asp about half way down it talks about and give a download link for the 75 installer. Its is in a winzip file. download this to your hard drive and extract them in the same folder. Then run the installer from the files and it will copy the correct files to where they need to be. And your xp version WMP will work with sound for the file that was before giving you the 75 error

This is the link for that audio codec:

It works, folks. I’m watching music videos in peace. Just make sure you enable the ActiveX stuff and it’ll work.

I had problems with the download. No matter what I did there was no installation file. I checked this thread and took John’s advice.

Got the same message on WinXP SP1.
The solution was simple (in my case).
Start/Run... and type mplayer2 (this opens up the old media player).
Try to run the file you want and it will automaticaly download the codec it needs (it’s an old codec, dated 1999).

Done. smiley(end quote)

That suggestion worked fine.

Hey, i’m trying to play a .mpg video, and the WMP (and every player i have) asks for this “audio codec tag 75”, with no more explanations or details. Where do i find this codec?
