Lonster Guest | Okay, now that I have enabled active x controls, why was it disabled in the first place? Is there a security risk in leaving it enabled? I have Norton and Zonealarm. Any one know the answer to this?

guest Guest | Here is a better and safer solution
I am using a WinXP-SP2, with MediaPlayer-10, and installed is a Microsoft Anti-Spyware BETA 1. Built-in Firewall is activated.
I want to listen to an AVI file from a tutorial, but the security system is blocking my download of the voxmsdec.CAB, because M$ product cannot understand that voxmsdec.cab is M$ also.
Here is what I did, internet security for IE and MP are the same.
Click TOOLS of IE , select INTERNET OPTIONS.
select SECURITY TAB,
click TRUSTED SITE, the green one, with a CHECK sign. this will then brighthen up, compared to the other sign.
click SITES... button
paste this URL — ->
http://codecs.microsoft.com/codecs/i386/voxmsdec.CAB
click ADD button, chances are, it will block you, if the “REQUIRE SERVER VERIFICATION(https .." is check. UNCHECK this!
then click ADD button again, it should add the URL to the big text box title “WEB SITES:"
then put a check again on the “REQUIRE SERVER VERIFICATION(https ..", for your own safety.
click OK
click OK
the next time you download the codec, it will ask for your authority or decision making, instead of completely BLOCKING it.

Joeg Guest | Greg, You da' man! It is caused by security settings in IE. Changing that setting to allow unsigned Active-X allows the video/Audio to play in WIMP-9. Thanks again!

sidetrak24 Guest | Listen to John 75, he knows what he’s talking about. Thanks!! Also, you might have to go to internet options and lower your security settings to the lowest setting.

Jack Voogt Guest | After installing codec 75 the “full screen” function of Windows Media Player version 9 does not work anymore. When I choose the full screen function the screen goes black for a second or two and returns to the previous size. How can I restore the full screen function without uninstalling codec 75 ?

Nico Guest | The solution is in MICROSOFT web site:
download the file http://codecs.microsoft.com/codecs/i386/voxacm.cab
Save it to your desktop
Extract all
right click on voxacm.ifo
INSTALL
Enjoy | |

Windows Media Player cannot open. You may need to reboot to complete installation of a downloaded component. Please verify that the path and filename are correct and try again.
