is there anyway i can make them both subs files into one file or to play it correclty?

Apparently Insane Rep: 26Joined: 28 Dec 2006 Posts: 17,378 | Just rename the str file to match exactly the name of the video file and put them in the same folder. for example, if the movie file is BR.JAP.1998, rename the str file BR.JAP.1998.
the movie should now have subtitles. you may have to manualy turn them on using the subtitle button on the remote.
If this doesn’t work let me know and i will try to find out what is going wrong.

dark_ruki_008 Guest | i can play them, the problem is, the subtitles are divided into 2 parts, so when i play the second one it it plays in the beginning of the movie instead of where it’s supposed to be, and if i play both together, they get mixed up.
hope it’s not too complicated >.> i’m trying to find another sub file so i can play it together, but i can’t seem to find one.

I have a question.... I use the media player classic and i want to add some subtitles to a movie, but when i try to add the subtitles a message appears... it says
to load subtitles you have to change the video renderer type and reopen the file...
Another question... if i paste the subtitles, the next time i open the file, does the file already has the subtitles or i have to load the sub again

Submit Guest | Just get VobSub its a simple codec and freeware  (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/VobSub.htm) and subtitles will word with whatever player you have. Mediaplayer, divx, doesnt matter. (the files files just have to have the same name and be in the same directory)

You didn’t really supply enough info, but, when you copied the movie, did you also copy the subtitle file (which must have same name as the movie except for the extension (.srt, .sub, etc.))? If you did, then it should play same as from hard disk.
You didn’t say what you’re trying to play it on. You didn’t even say which container format the movie uses. If you’re playing it on a standalone, it may not support subs. Does it play other subtitled movies? There is no standard for supporting subs on standalones that play MPEG4 content. But most of them seem to understand timing-based .srt format and some also do .sub frame-based ones. But I have two standalones that don’t support subs at all. So I just hard-code them into the movie, and then there’s no problem to play them on anything. But too bad if later I want the movie without the subs, they are permanent.

You are giving misleading advice. You say to rename eg BR.JAP.1998 but a n00b may not know that the extensions have to be different and reflecting the type of file.

If it’s an AVI movie and the subs are .srt, .sub, or one of the other text-based formats, then MPC will automatically display them if it is named the same as the movie and is in same directory as the movie.
If you have an ancient video card that doesn’t support overlays properly, you could get this sort of problem.
If you want permanent subtitles in the movie, you have to re-encode it in VirtualDub and use filter like TextSub.

Make sure that the file name and the subtitles name are the same (minus the extensions, .avi and .sub respectivley). Put them in the same directory before you load the file into WMP 9.0 and it will play the subtites no prob-bob.
