dcar5323 Guest | I think I’m losing my mind here, but I recently acquired some .avi files and I’m having a few problems. These files, depending upon the player I’m using, will either play just audio, or just video. I’ve used both GSpot and another program (of which I can’t remember the name...) to scan these files, and both programs came up with an error in detecting the audio codec (the nameless program couldn’t even detect the video codec). The files play video in Windows Media Player 10, Winamp 5.something, and Realplayer classic. I can get Nero Showtime (of all things) to play the audio, as does Quicktime. My DivX player won’t open the file at all.
I’ve gone through these forums and some other random websites, installing codecs off all kinds, and nothing yet has gotten both the audio and video to work simultaneously. GSpot failed to render, and it was telling me that the video type was unsupported. It said from scanning that it was most likely a quicktime movie, but I can’t even get quicktime to play the video.
I really need some ideas here, I’ll give any more information if you all need it, just tell me how to get to it and I’ll provide it.
Thanks - Dave
