installed many codecs, still can't play videos

Hi i have a problem with some codecs. i have a lot of movies but there are 3 movies (4 disks) that do not work even though i have tried (i think) everything.

The following movies:
Gangs of New York cd1,2
Reign of Fire
Basic

they do not work and i reinstalled all my codecs tryed various diffrent ones at once tried just 1 and still nadah i have installed now
Divx Pro Codec
XVid
Defiler Pack
most movies work just fine with this combination so i have not changed it they are all the newest versions
none of my friends could help me and i lost faith in the fact that they will ever work if anyone has an idea i could use some help

I THINK THE ONLY GOOD CODEC PACK I SEEM TO BE ABLE TO PLAY MOST FILE WITH IS KAZAA LITE CODEC PACK ITS SEEMS TO HAVE ALL THE CODEC YOU NEED. IF THE FILES ARE XVID TRY A DIFFERENT XVID CODEC. TRY THEM WITH AVI PREVIEW AND SEE WHAT CODEC THEY ARE WITH GSPOT

an mpeg2 codec come with kazaa codec pack. what makes you think their svcd anyway. i have the same file and their xvid so shutup you stupid bollox and for fuck sake i’m not a she. yet another assumption from a dumb cunt

THAT WOULD MAKE ME THINK THEY ARE VCD OR SVCD.
kinda gives it away saying cd1 cd2 would be stupid having a xvid or divx split in 2 now wouldnt it and even if you did for watever reson why would you name them cd1 and cd2 why not part 1 and part 2.

well to answer your question yes kazaa avipreview is good for watching .dat or .mpg files but why not just download the newest version of divx player from the divx site it makes things alot eaiser.

oh one more thing i have to ask you.

what does it say when go to watch the file.

meaning what type of error or whats actually wrong is it no picture but same to be playing is it an error that comes up saying something like fourrcc 0 codec missing.

a little more detail would help us to help you.
