Temperamental Guest | Ok..I’ll try to explain this as clear as possible...
Originally when I bought my computer, everything worked fantastic. I could install games with ease, no problems ever.
However, for some reason, I get this specific error and message when I attempt to install any RETAIL (not downloaded) games that require more than one CD during the installation..
My newest game, Battlefield: Vietnam, has these problems.
My machine is running XP Home SP 2, always has been. AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 1 GIG of RAM...
THe problem goes exactly as follows:
I put CD 1 in, and it works fine. The auto installer comes up, everything goes smooth. Until the middle of the installation where it asks for CD # 2.. I figure, great.. and put in CD #2..
At this point in time, I get this error message:
Setup Could not find the specified path or disk. Please check that the proper disk is inserted, or specify a new path.
I’ve cehcked the path several times, triedmultiple different ones, and I have 100% confirmed that I am specifying the right path, the CD has NO scratches, and my CD/DVD Drive is clean.
I cant figure out what’s wrong. I have no adware, no viruses, etc.
I’ll give a little more info on similar probs that MAY be related..
Scenario - Say I insert CD 1, a game, music, or movie CD (makes no difference). It runs fine. However, if I take that CD out, and insert a new one, my CD Drive acts as if it does not recognize the CD and thinks that the old one is still in the drive.
I have to restartmy computer at this point before it recognizes the new CD, which to me, specifies that the problem most likely is not with the CD drive.
Someone..Please, help. I’ve spent hours trying to find the answer to this, and I’ve spent too much money on games that I cannot return to letthem go to waste...
Any help is appreciated.. |
