I can convert mov to vcd or dvd that I can burn to
cd that plays on my dvd player. But it loses
video quality in the conversion. I’ve tried converting to vcd, dvd, mpeg-1, mpeg-2, svcd,
using digital media converter 2.4, along with
several other software converters. Digital media
converter seems to do a better job so far, but still
loses video quality. Converting to
dvd retains the best quality so far, but objects in
the video appear wider than normal. The software
doesn’t allow for manual settings in the conversion
to dvd. Have tried converting from mov directly to
vcd type formats. Also converting from mov to avi
using quicktime pro’s export feature, then from avi to vcd format with similar results. Would just like to retain the same quality from the original mov. Are there other converters that
allow manual settings to dvd format? Or some other way to maintain quality?

ok, found a converter that works good for my
situation. It’s called “convert movie 1.1”.
I use quicktime pro to convert mov to avi,
use windows movie maker to edit, then convert movie
to convert avi to dvd. I’m just using my windows cd
writer to burn it to cd. Has the same video
and audio quality of the original mov. With
convert movie, I had to install an additional
codec. They give you the web site to get the
additional codec. Haven’t tried converting directly
from mov to dvd yet. Convert movie does give you
that option. Hope this helps others.
