1- I record a program from TV to my hard drive
2- I use NeroVision to cut out the commercials
3- I add chapters and menus
4- I burn the completed project DVD or hard drive
5- only to find out that Nero Smart encoding isn’t so smart and that now the soudtrack is a few seconds out of synch with the video.
Is anyone else having the same problem and what exactly IS the problem?!?!

Paul Parker Guest | I’m having that same problem with video captured from a digital camcorder. The AVI file is fine, but when it is transcoded for the DVD, the audio slowly gets out of sync.
Anyone know of a fix?

Paul Parker Guest | OK, but is there something we can do with the software to keep the video and sound in sync? Are we choosing the wrong settings?
Thanks,

mrsmac Guest | You describe the problems I am having - sound out of sync with the video. What do you mean by “48khz” and where does one set it?

paul78 Guest | cut out the ads as you said, then use “ulead dvd workshop “to make menus and chapters etc. This is a very good program and has never given me any problems.

paul78 Guest | yes, it encodes the video files once you have created menus etc. then you can either burn to disk or create a dvd video file.
It has lots of features where as when i used vision express before it did not give as many options.
get a trial copy and have a look, if you like it im sure you know where to get it on the net (wink)

Yokogari Guest | Audio syncing seems to be a common problem. I see it on may different video editors. I don’t believe your problem is in the Transcoding, but rather in the editing phase. You can prove this by outputing to an mpeg file rather than to DVD and view it from your hard drive.
Two things I have found helps this problem: 1. start with smaller source files. The larger your source file the greater the audio gets out of sync. I never use source vidio greater then about an hour long. 2. Where possible make your cuts at the 0, 10, or 20 frame location. I don’t know why this works but it does help.
Good luck

scoterada Guest | To fix the problem in Nero Vision turn off the “smart encoding” option on the “video options” dialogue box.

bearpitt Guest | Turning off Smart encoding works for a little while but the out of sync issue comes back later in the show.
What is the fix for this????

Mr. D Guest | Had the same problem with the audio a couple seconds ahead. Switched from NTSC (US) to SAP (Austrailia) and now it works fine in my DVD player. Probably has to do with the software I used to convert the original file to avi.

alexcaribe Guest | When installing Nero-Vision DVD on Windows XP without service pack 1, it will always rewrite some files belongin to Windows Media Player, and the user will not be able to display some DVD content that come in MPG4 format. Is there a patch to help solve this particular problem?
note: this has only happened with the Nero version that comes with the sony DVD-RW

Jarrah Bark Guest | Using Nero Vision 4, XP, PAL (Australia). Solved problem by downloading patch from http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/Patch_for_NVE3.html AND disabling “smart encoding”. Patch almost fixed out of sync but not quite.
