video problems

i just upgraded my computer to a x800xl vid card, ive got newst drivers all codecs i can think of, my video quiality is defiinitly not as good as it was when i had my old system. the videos are alittle blurry, some videos are pretty clear but sometmies it gets blurry after awhile.
is there a way to check video card heat?
or settings somewhere in my computer to make video better?
my games play perfect with no vid problems I only have troubles with desktop videos
any suggestions ?????
