spex Guest | I have several .avi files that play just fine in DivX player or Windows Media player, but when I open them up in VirtualDub I can neither play, nor convert the files.
The error presented is:
No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format.
And here is the file info:
Video stream
...
Decompressor: XviD MPEG-4 Codec
...
Audio stream
Sampling rate: 48000Hz
Channels: 2(Stereo)
Sample precision: N/A
Compression: Unknown (tag 0055)
Layout: 233 chunks(0.00 preload)
Length: 38366040 samples (39:57:87)
Min/avg/max/total frame size: 96/336/576 (77K)
Data rate: 128kbps (6.66% overhead)
I have read lots of posts that recommend installing various codecs. No luck thus far. The part that confuses me is that I can play the file just fine, so it would seem I have the required codec. I need to be able to use VirtualDub as part of a process I use to convert to DVD video.
Any help would be appreciated. | |

topcat139 Guest | Vdub uses what’s known as dmo filters only, not the directx ones. You could try vdubmod, or if the file is an ac-3 file, then load the ac3acm filter. Google it.
luck.
