labish Guest | If you use xp you don’t need a special driver for your burner just go my computer click right choose properties go hardware and pick device manager and find your burner.Click right and and go update driver or just uninstall it and restart the computer and windows is going to find it and install a new driver but before this standard driver problem check on Samsung or Google the name of your burner and look for an updated firmware. Here is link with all the burners, you may find out on forum for Samsung a lot of stuff.http://www.cdfreaks.com/

Lee420 Guest | You really need that cd installion though. Without it you do not get the extra features that come with the product, and all the good stuff. Just like when you buy a “ati” it doesnt just install the driver but all the other extras like catalyst and that is a must HAVE. XP tends to install just a generic driver when you update that way. Go to the makers of your cd-rom and look for drivers there, they should have them for download.

thejudge Guest | I have the same cd/dvd drive, the Samsung SN 324B. I have no problem reading cd’s or DVD’s with it. My problem is getting cd’s to burn. I want to use a good burning program like Feurio to burn cd’s with it, not WMP or some other junk like Roxio. I want to burn all my cd’s DAO. However, I can’t seem to find a driver to make Feurio work.
Any suggestions on how I can get Feurio to work?
Thanks in advance.

Gudy Guest | Hello.. i was looking around the web site for answers about my samsung cdrw/dvd sn-324B. I just re-installed my windows xp pro on my laptop. I saw that my dvd wasn’t working but the regular cd-rom was working just fine. So I was loooking around a website to see if they had a drivers or something to help me fix my problem. I saw there was a drive for my Latitude D600 Laptop. I download it and did the SDFWIN thing. I reboot my pc and now my cdrw/dvd isn’t working at alll. its not even reading it in windows.. i don’t see my drive there, under windows explore. I was reading on Firmware... and i read that the one on dell is the wrong one. it was <samsung 324s>. and i also found out that i had to use a BIN U101.., on that website... i believe i used Bin U306. now i used that and i don’t know how to fix that,,its to late. How can i refresh my cdrw or how can i fix this problem.
Problem...I see the light on the cd-rom flashing and my pc tends to freeze for about 10 sec... like its looking for it.... and in Bios... it reads my cd-rom.. i see it there as samsung cdrw/dvd 324B P/n 8w007-a01.....please help me.....
Thank you

Marcus Aurelius Guest | Here is a link for your drive firmware U103 : http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?category=15&manufactor=28
As you can read is a risky operation so use it on your own.The flash utility is a tool to clear the drive but before you do any update check your drive with DVDInfo and find out what firmware you have.Sometimes installing a burning software like Nero or Roxio is going to fix the drive with a generic driver so maybe to update the firmware is not a request.Good Luck.

edelwater Guest | I have exactly the same problem, it used to work but somehow i cant burn cds anymore. It gives 0mb free space on any cd.
very irritating.
Im just wondering if it could be a recent xp patch or something or that a complete new batch of cds has entered the world that this drive is not possible to write.

edelwater Guest | It is actually a samsung cd SN-324B u103 which is not supported on the samsung site where they have the U101 firmware from waaay long ago (2003)... I think it is the because these are oem editions.
Interesting. Could possibly be the CD-RWs used. I tried 2 different kinds of CR-RW. Tomorrow im going to buy another package of a different brand.
