WindowsXP and its applications show red blue & green O.K., so I assumed it was the DVD player, which I took as an opprtunity to replace it with a DVD Burner.
But, same problem. It’s not caused by the DVD player software, as I get the same results
from PowerDVD and Windows Media Player. Hmmm... only other piece of the puzzle was the
IDE cable from the DVD to the mainboard; replaced that, still no reds!
Sherlock 2.0 says all my codecs are good — anybody got a clue?

TopsyTurvy Guest | Excuse me..first of all what are you talking about? Secondly, is it a dvd burner for personal computer? And finally, I don’t really understand what you mean by red, blue and green. Well as a reminder a pc dvd burner come in either red and green or just pure green light.(Depend on models of different manufacturer) When you put a disc in the burner it light turn green. Flashing red is when the burner is burning a data. These are the answer to your question. If I am wrong, well screw me then.

I’m talking about playback of commercial DVDs on my PC.
The typical PC monitor can only display three colors: Red, Green and Blue (plus black). All the other 16 million or so colors, such as grey, pink, purple, cyan, etc., are made by combining the three RGB colors in various combinations and intensities.
What I get on playing a DVD is no Red information on the screen — flesh tones are a washed-out bluish color, for instance — but only in the movie portion of the monitor; all other colors are good.

TopsyTurvy Guest | I am terribly sorry to say that I couldn’t help you out on this complicated issue of your dvd playback problem as I am still in the dark wondering what your question is all about wanting red information on the screen. Maybe someone here can help you out along the way. My apology.

labish Guest | Here is link to a forum and they talk about your problem. As you see is about 90% the monitor to blame or your video card. The easy way is to connect your pc to a different monitor and if the problem is still there check your video card.http://forums.livingwithstyle.com/archive/index.php/t-108658.html
