that depends on what the original seeder put in the torrent, it can be a single file, or a complete folder with cover images, playlist files, or other info.
some you have to burn as a image, or the files might be a compressed archive.

This is taken from an entirely different thread; its in the wrong place really. 24 June 2005 06.08pm; http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/5042p20.html

Hope it helps. If you look on page 19 of that same thread, I put up another long post about how to treat the most common types of files you download. 21 June 2005 07.09am; http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/5042p19.html

oh by the way

***TOO STONED*** — see my last post (on the same page as yours - currently page 19). explains all - just download Daemon Tools Basic (the link is there). Then “mount” the .cue file, and it behaves like an ordinary CD. You’ll probably need a no-CD crack, which might be included.

and, ***JOEL****, the easiest way is to download it. Use Limewire, or better yet download a Torrent client (do I have to explain this? Yes.) Follow these steps:

1. Download Sun Java 2 client (you want J2SE JRE - Java 2 Standard(?) Edition - Java Runtime Environment, and the download page is https://jsecom15b.sun.com/ECom/EComActionServlet;jsessionid=E2133B1E96EF8E6EA36A322DC82B6E10), although that may be invalid, in which case Google it. Either way, install, and restart if necessary.
2. Download Azureus. This is one of many client programmes for the BitTorrent network - it allows you to download software from multiple servers and other downloaders, all at the same time - i.e. great download speeds. I use this one because its powerful, and has a cool blue frog symbol. Gotta love that frog. Please note legality of this is dubious at best. Everyone else please note I don’t do this! The page is http://azureus.sourceforge.net/download.php. Again, install and restart if neccesary.
3. Go to a torrent site. I recommend www.torrentspy.net or www.isohunt.com. The latter is more irritating to use, but does do a traul of quite a few sites.
4. Search for The Sims 2 in the search field. With isohunt.com, you’ll need to search for torrents (there are three options underneath the search box). Select the one with the best health. To know which one, look at the column labelled “seeders” or “s”. You want a lot of these. You also want a lot of “downloaders” (or “d”wink, although the fewest “leechers” (yep, you guessed it - “l”wink possible. The other two columns take priority. Double check that the file is for PC, and then download.
5. (If I haven’t lost count). Open Azureus. Then go “File -> Open -> Torrent (no default save)" Find the small .torrent file you just downloaded, and open it. Then, use the dialogue to select the directory to which you want to download the game.
6. You’re away! Once the game has finished downloading (this could take a while - depends on your connection speed, among other things), follow the instructions in my other really long post (dated 21st June 2005), in this thread. That should deal with installation. If all you need is a disc copy, then I would recommend you either burn your download (useful if you ever uninstall your current copy), and/or ignore everything I’ve just said and find a no-CD crack. A no-CD crack has the advantage that its legal, assuming your original game copy was. And if not, stop being so stingy; games cost peanuts on eBay :P

Wow. I know an awful lot about this for someone who doesn’t do it... *loostens tie and laughs nervously*

That will probably deal with most of the problems you’ll have. Do post if you have trouble, I’ll try to help you out!

I use Azureus too, and it works perfectly, so long as your firewalls are set up right, or just disabled. Another torrent site I use is www.torrentreactor.net. I also use torrentspy and isohunt, and all 3 are good sites.

.pdt... that’s interesting - .pdt files are database files assosciated with ProCrite(?) database editor.
I guess they could conceivably be the same as the spanned archive file I mentioned above - try extracting with WinRAR maybe? I don’t know.

If one of the files you got is a .nfo file, you could try opening that with Notepad. It could be that will contain instructions. I suppose it could also be the case that using Daemon Tools to mount the .pdt could work.

If you didn’t understand what I just said, my last post (the really long one!) explains a couple of things... Just let me know if you need any more help. Sorry this wasn’t great!
