TNWRSTLER1: yip, try what Dogmut said. Just set VLC up so .AVI etc, are associated with it.

I wouldn’t use VideoLAN for ALL video playback. I only use it for previewing as it causes unnecessary stress on the CPU.

Once a download finishes I use Zoom Player and the necessary codecs to play it back.

TNWRSTLER1: Another thing is, as you’ll notice, Shareaza draws bits from other users depending on who’s online and what’s available at the time.

So in effect, you might get bits of the end, or bits of the beginning of a movie, all depending on what others can transfer to you.

VideoLAN, or any media player out there, requires that you have parts of the beginning of a movie, so you can satisfactory preview the movie.

You can identify whether you’ve got the required *beginning* parts of the movie by looking at the progress bar, in Shareaza.

To Frightfo0:
Thanks for the help I was finally able to get the movies to play on VLC, and Now I pretty much understand how everything works but i got one more question.. when I play the movie on the VLC sometime the pictue comes in bad, like the the screen flashes into a bunch of tiny boxes. Does that mean the movie will stay like that or can I repair this. And when I play the movie, the sound come in perfect but only into one of my speakers. I downloaded an esoteric version so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it. Thanks for all your help.

To Frightfo0: I found the problem with the speakers. It was a techical problem with the wires , but the sound quality is still bad . Also when the movie starts when it says the Lord of the Rings, but half of the S word “rings” is cut off, an no mater what i do I am no able to fix this so I believe this is not a good copy.
I heard of the
“The.Lord.Of.The.Rings.Return.Of.The.King.WORKPRINT.SVCD-iND'" copy however I cant find it Thanks for all your help

ok the vlc player is playing the file, but after a couple seconds it closes the file. So obviously it works or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I downloaded the Return of the King from Kazaa but didn’t get a picture or any sound. So I downloaded “vcl player” and it worked, but only played the first 9 seconds. Any ideas??

I’ve had no luck and I’m pretty much out of ideas. I tried to strip the index from the file and then reconstructing the index (really just tring things that I have never done before). Than I thought that maybe I could just strip out the first 9 secs then it would be ok. But I’m not too sure on how to do that. Oren, or anyone else, do you have any other ideas?

BigArt the file that you downloaded may be a bogus file. Howver there could be several other problems with it you have to have the movie completely downloaded because if don’t, you might have downloaded bits of the end, or bits of the beginning of a movie depending on which program you used. I find that Kazaa has a lot of bogus files and shareaza doesn’t. .

If you’re looking for LOTK ROTK i should be recieving a DVD copy of it in about two weeks. If your interested post a reply
