I have dl a movie from Kazaa and it won’t play at all. It’s just a black screen without sound or picture. Same happened when I dl from imesh. If I dl from Morpheous it plays fine but it’s hell getting anything from there so I’d like to fix this problem with Kazaa. I have just downloaded divx, and that did no good. I also downloaded gspot. It says that it shows that DirectShow can play the video. But I don’t even have DirectShow and can’t seem to find what the hell that is anyway. Oh..and I also dl xvid. Pleaaaasse someone help. This really sucks! Thanks.

KaZaA and iMesh use the same network (FastTrack). You do not need to have both installed :-), since what can be found using iMesh can be found using KaZaA.

In any case, I’d recommend not using the bad spyware infested version of KaZaA. Use Kazaa Lite K++ Edition. It contains NO spyware or adware and has much more features.

If you can’t find Kazaa Lite K++, there’s always the option to use Chip’s program - DietKaza:

http://www.dietk.com/

It will remove spyware and adware from the insidious versions of KaZaA.

Now, to the movie problem:

Download this:
The Faimous One’s Codec Finder
http://tfo.57host.biz/codecfinder/index.htm

Drop your movie into it. What does it say?

Keep in mind that there are fake files that people share.

i have a similar problem, and i just used the program you mentioned. here is what it says:

Video Codec FourCC: divx
Video Codec: DivX 5
Codec or Variant Installed?: NO!
Video Width x Height: 352 x 240
Video FPS/Bitrate: 29.970 / 317 kbit/s

Audio Codec: DivX;-) Audio
Audio Bitrate: 64 Kbit/s
Audio Channels: 2 (Stereo)
Audio Samples: 44,100 Hz

it’s a south park episode.
where can i get the codec for this?

That’s a very low Video bitrate, hhmm:

Install and configure 3ivX:
http://www.3ivx.com/download/index.html

It should decode fine.

The actual codec that was used to encode the movie can be downloaded from www.divx.com . I don’t recommend installing that though as the free version has spyware and adware.

Ok..this is what it said when I dropped the movie into it.

Video Codec FourCC: divx
Video Codec: DivX 5
Codec or Variant Installed?: YES!
Video Width x Height: 352 x 288
Video FPS/Bitrate: 25.000 / -12861620 kbit/s

Audio Codec: 26966
Audio Bitrate: 12861637 Kbit/s
Audio Channels: 29810
Audio Samples: 1,147,953,525 Hz

Now..it looks like divx should run it, from what I can tell..and I DO have divx. Any other suggestions?

Eeek :-P, umm, I dunno, hhmm. I’ve never seen audio codec specs such as that:

Audio Codec: 26966
Audio Bitrate: 12861637 Kbit/s
Audio Channels: 29810
Audio Samples: 1,147,953,525 Hz

Does the picture show up when it’s played?

I have downloaded about 15 movies and everytime I downlolad a movie from either Kazaa or Kazaa Kazaa Lite there is no sound or audio. I ran it through each one through codec Finder and everytime I get two different results for everyone i download. Here they are

Video Codec FourCC: DIVX
Video Codec: DivX 5
Codec or Variant Installed?: NO!
Video Width x Height: 352 x 256
Video FPS/Bitrate: 4.000 / 260 kbit/s

Audio Codec: PCM (Native)
Audio Bitrate: -258 Kbit/s
Audio Channels: 256
Audio Samples: 408,115,126 Hz

and

Video Codec FourCC: DIVX
Video Codec: DivX 5
Codec or Variant Installed?: NO!
Video Width x Height: 352 x 256
Video FPS/Bitrate: 4.000 / 260 kbit/s

Audio Codec: PCM (Native)
Audio Bitrate: -258 Kbit/s
Audio Channels: 256
Audio Samples: 408,115,126 Hz

Does anyone know the codec for these or are they just bogus files please help!!!

Kayleen007:

After further investigation I have found that the file with:

Video Codec FourCC: divx
Video Codec: DivX 5
Codec or Variant Installed?: YES!
Video Width x Height: 352 x 288
Video FPS/Bitrate: 25.000 / -12861620 kbit/s

Audio Codec: 26966
Audio Bitrate: 12861637 Kbit/s
Audio Channels: 29810
Audio Samples: 1,147,953,525 Hz

would be/is a fake.

This one appears fake also, TNWRSTLER1:

Video Codec FourCC: DIVX
Video Codec: DivX 5
Codec or Variant Installed?: NO!
Video Width x Height: 352 x 256
Video FPS/Bitrate: 4.000 / 260 kbit/s

Audio Codec: PCM (Native)
Audio Bitrate: -258 Kbit/s
Audio Channels: 256
Audio Samples: 408,115,126 Hz

No..I haven’t had a chance to sign up for that other forum yet. Though, I do plan on it. I finally got tired of trying to deal with Kazaa and all that, so I dl eMule..and so far it’s taken me about 2 days and I’m not even half done with the file transfer, but if the damn thing plays it’ll be worth it, lol.

Aha, infamous eDonkey2000 network. That’s a good network, there are less fakes.

Personally I use Shareaza (www.shareaza.com) to download from BitTorrent, eDonkey2000 (network eMule connects to), Gnutella1 & Gnutella2 and MP2P. It’s quite a good program.

About that DIVX preview program... it added a “Send to Codec Finder 5” option to the context menu (when you right click a file). I’ve used the program, and now I want to remove it. I got rid of the .exe file, but that menu option is still there. How do I get rid of it?

Hehe, that’s easy man :-). It just involves deleting the short-cut from your Send To directory.

Note: the actual program is already totally uninstalled. The thing that’s left over is only a short-cut.

For XP go to Start>Run and paste:

\Documents and Settings\Default User\SendTo

OR

\Documents and Settings\owner\SendTo

Now click OK and then delete the Codec Finder short-cut.

Done :-)

For Windows 95, 98, & Me users. This is what you paste into the Run window to access your Send To menu:

Windows\SendTo

Hhhmm, that’s interesting the back-slashes don’t show up on the site. Oh well, I found a site where it’s got the instructions as well:

Thanks for telling me that those files were fake. I tried downloadloading eMule and it said
" No valid servers to connect in serverlist found” I don’t know where to go to find a valid server. Ialso tried Sahareaza and it started downloading but there was no way to preview the file to see if it was downloading, or maybe it was just the version I had .
