hedo Guest | Thanks Sniper Monkey 007 !!!
I did as you advised:
..... open Quicktime<Edit<Preferences<Quicktime Preferences<Advanced Sub category “Video”. Instead of disabling the “Enable Direct3D video acceleration” like the article suggests keep that box enabled and instead disable the “Enable DirectDraw acceleration”. In other words keep all of the boxes checked except for Safe mode (GDI only)" and “Enable DirectDraw acceleration”.
No more green screen.

Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Problem successfully addressed via the following steps:
01) Start -> Control Panel -> Display
02) Settings -> Advanced - Troubleshoot
03) Set Hardware Acceleration Slider to midpoint (Disable all DirectDraw and Direct 3D accelerations...)
04) Apply
05) OK
06) OK
07) Close Control Panel

Tom S in Tacoma Guest | Changing drawing settings in Quicktime and/or changing the monitor settings in Windows didn’t work for me. I had the problem with Quicktime, Windows Media Player, and Real Player even though I updated all of them. After further looking I found a fix that worked perfectly.
You need to run Microsoft’s “Update for Windows Media Digital Rights Management-enabled players”. It’s available here:
