Regular Rep: 6 Joined: 20 Nov 2004 Posts: 1,285 | Not sure why IE crashes, but based on the links you’ve provided, the file you wanted to play (if i’m looking at the correct page) is in mpeg-1. Normally on windows 95 OSR2 and later you don’t need any additional codecs to play mpeg-1 files. The only difficulty you could be having would be a slow-loading video, since mpeg-1 wasn’t really designed for streaming.
In any case the second link points to a page to purchase mainconcept’s mpeg encoder. I don’t know what exactly happened, but my guess is you installed mainconcept’s mpeg encoder at some point, and now it handles all mpeg-1 DEcoding as well, not allowing window’s decoder to decode (sorry, bad wording). Now that the trial period for the encoder is over, all encoding AND decoding is disabled, and that’s why you’re getting the message you’re getting. If this theory is correct, uninstalling the trial version of mainconcept’s mpeg encoder (or purchasing the full version) should do the trick. |
