Wrong codec selected by WMP

I have a few XviD movies, but when I try playing them in Windows Media Player, they are all green. I guess this is caused by some codec messing up, so I checked it with GSpot.

GSpot tells me I have 3 codecs that will handle XviD, and that DirectShow uses ffdshow to decode it. I assume that’s the one WMP uses too(?).

If I play the file in DivX Player, it’s fine, so I’m guessing DP doesn’t use the same process of chosing a codec as WMP does, but since I need to use WMP I also need to find a way to make WMP use the same codec as DP does.

Does anyone know how to do this?

And please...
1) I need to use WMP, so don’t suggest that I use some other player.
2) I obviously have the needed codecs, so don’t suggest I download some extra codecpack.

Uninstall the other versions of XviD, then install the stable version here:

Latest (stable) binaryXviD-04102002-1.exe (411kb)
