mp3 codec not working... please help!!

hello
i downloaded the fraunhofer mp3 codec pro v1.236. but then i tried to watch the video for which i downloaded the codec and windows media player 10 told me that 1 or multiple codecs are missing to watch the video. i used the program video inspector and it told me i had all the needed codecs to install the video. then i used sherlock 2.0 and it told me that the mp3 codec was found broken. the i go and click on the codec that is highlighted in red and it tells me that i had was not unistalled properly. but i had just installed it a minute ago. please help!!!
