firefly Guest | The mpeg file cannot be played with Windows Media Player, error message: -
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the required codec cannot be found. To determine how to obtain the codec identified as {E06D8026-DB46-11CF-B4D1-00805F6CBBEA}, contact the content provider.

Once you install PowerDVD (http://www.gocyberlink.com/english/download/dl_file_new.jsp?dl_id=1&ProdId=28) the MPEG2 codec is installed. Once you uninstall PowerDVD the MPEG2 codec is left behind. You should now be able to play MPEG2 files in other media players such as Windows Media Player.
Another solution is to install VideoLAN (www.videolan.org). It uses its own builtin filters to play various video files.

firefly Guest | Thank you, Frightfo0.
However, download of PowerDVD on the website you mentioned was not sucessful. It gives an image of broken camera film (Quicktime) during downloading. What’s wrong with my IE browser or Quicktime?

XP1 Guest | If you want to view Mpeg2/SVCD in Windows Media Player download the Mpeg2 codex from onw of these links:
http://dshow.narod.ru/video/mpeg2codec_installer.zip
http://download.divxmovies.com/mpeg2codec_installer.zip
Unzip and install the codex and you should be able to view Mpeg2/SVCD files with media player
If using TMPEGenc use this plugin to enable TMPGEnc to open and read Mpeg2/SVCD files so you can convert them to VC
http://www.marumo.ne.jp/mpeg2/m2v_vfp-0.6.36.lzh
Open the lzh archive with Winrar and extract all files to the TMPGEnc folder. You should be able to convert the Mpeg2/SVCD file to VCD format.
For more help on converting with TMPGEnc check out these:

Hope that helps...

Grizzly Guest | I can’t play movies encoded by TMPGEnc. What codec should I use? I’ve tryed VFAPI Reader Codec 1.05
but it has no efect. I’ve tryed again by installing ACE Mega CoDecS Pack - ProXP 5.01.0231, and something changed: i have image and sound, only that are both like jamed.
Please help me.
