Can someone please help me what FOURCC code '0' means? I am trying to view a movie file avi, but it keeps saying that the file that i’m trying to open contains the code that is not recogized by Divx. The code is Fourcc code '0'. Thanks a lot.

Files with a FourCC of '0' are most definitely fakes.

“Please note that there doesn’t exist any video codec that uses the FOURCC code 0. If you’ve downloaded a movie with the FOURCC code 0 it’s a fake movie file and you won’t be able to watch it. To avoid fake movies using KaZaA you can use a program called sig2dat. Then you simply goto a site such as FastTrackMovies.com and lookup the movie you want to download. All the files have been verified and should work, so when you follow the sig2dat link your KaZaA will automatically try to find and download the movie."

Yup, the file is full of nothing but jazz. None of the codec info appliances will supply info, no divx or turbo players can play it, and if you look at the raw file, it’s full of empty space and a few ascii characters. We’ve all been rooked. If you see an .avi file that’s less than 150 megs then start wondering.

The good news: It doesn’t contain any viruses or worms as far as my antivirus could tell.

I have the same problem with an RM file. The file is 109k and works on other peoples computers. Any thoughts?

I don’t know about “fake” files, I’m receiving this message when attempting to play an AVI which I converted from mpg with OE Video... which usually works well. Joiner/converter. Could this code possibly mean corrupted?

Yes it is really good. Most of the best stuff is in the forums. The site’s name is www.sharethefiles.com now, but if you go to www.fasttrackmovies.com you will be automatically redirected there. You probably didn’t wait long enough for the redirection.
