I tried Mamlaka’s suggestion and installed the codec, did not work for me. mpegs play fine in other types of software but not in Windows media player it crashes every time. Also having a problem just viewing some mpegs just in windows explorer it will crash also just looking at a file with them in it. I have Windows XP pro.

Any Suggestions?

First off. My mpeg files have worked fine until about a week ago, now they don’t. I checked for codecs on G-Spot and it claims I have the necessary codecs. The mpeg files won’t play on DivX or Power DVD either. I believe the problem is being caused by trojans. Most websites including MSN and Yahoo -responsible folks who should know by now- insist on users having java and active X running, in spite of the fact, that runing on medium security does not protect the user at all. Anti Virus and Anti spyware programs don’t permanently remove these problems, and some of them will spam a trojan or a worm on one’s system the offer to fix the problem with purchase of their lousy product. In fact they’ll even let the user run a scan to show what the user the trojan and state the user must buy their stinking product to remove the pest. These malwares often cause windows explorer -ya' know “my computer”?- to drive processor usage up to 100% thus locking up access to what’s on the harddrive. These malwares put out by the bloated Calvin Klein business pigs also cause many programs to stop functioning. Almost all websites leave these trojans on our PCs with impunity and the anti softwares do not remove these problems unless the user pays the company who put the malicious code on his/her system for their product. AVG doesn’t work, nor does McAfee or Norton. Spybot or Adaware. We literally have to pay ransom to these pigs and they are legally allowed to do this. Here’s a url from one of these pigs, I haven’t been able to shake the garbage this spam put on my PC, I even did everything I know to remove this gem manually, http://systemerrorfixer.com/clean/?cmpname=swpges31&eai=swp_ges&eli=6253&eaf=pp_690679815&cmpname=null&420e5-20057&mt_info=4141_0_1557. Yet these pigs have the nerve to try and sell me their product. MSN, Yahoo and other legit pages should allow us to access their sites under high security so we don’t accidentally enter other pages with the low security settings, -sometimes we forget to reset-. Bottom line, STOP BLAMING THE USER FOR OPERATING SYSTEM AND BROWSER DEFICIENCIES MICROSOFT. You built the deficiencies in not us. Give solutions not excuses.

I didn’t type the message that way, I have the original and the sentences about software companies planting viruses wasn’t misworded nor mispunctuated like they came out in the post. This happens a lot too.

ok I had the same problem and I think its that our computers are too week to play it so you need to turn off a couple of options.

go to tools > options > Performance > advance, turn off video mixing renderer and all legacy video rederers.

this does nothing to the picture (i think it looks better if you ask me) plus it gets rid of that annoying blank screen.

I am facing the same problem right now. i am not able to play any MPEG files on Windows media player or in NERO. In WMA i could hear the sound but there is no video and in NERO its the same thing there is no video but i could hear the sound. Then one of my friend told me to try mpplayerc and i downloaded that for free from the internet. In mpplayerc the video is working fine for me but there is no sound sad. what should i do now. i have so many MPEG files and all of them are important videos that i must see. It would be wonderful if somebody tell me how to solve this problem.
