.avi burning help needed

I have a couple of .avi files that i tried to burn using ahead nero5 version 5.5.8.13 yamaha to a cd-r because all i have is a cd burner yamaha crwf1 it came out about 3 yrs ago.

i tried burning the .avi files all 700mbs or below using the nero wizard to use vcd and i drag and drop the files and just burn them but when they finished they never work when i try playing them.

I tried using vlc player, divx, and real player but they dont work and my dvd player doesnt play cd-r or cd-rw. Any help would be greatly appreciated. you can also email me at killerinstinct2003@yahoo.com thanx

Nero is just a burning software and the version you have is a old one.Here is a link for the new one but you’re going to need the serials for them.http://www.nero.com/us/nero-up.php Even with the old Nero you can burn the cd but before that convert the avi in vcd or svcd and after that is ok to burn it.Anyway try to play that file with the players you have and if the sound and picture are ok than start the convertion.If the file is not playing ok find out what kind of file is it and download the codecs you may need.A good pack is All in One from this site:http://www.free-codecs.com/

thanx labish for your help but do you know where i could get serials for nero and do you know if when i play the cd back on my comp if it will work playing on vlc player because my dvd player is crap it doesnt play anything cept dvds and cds no cd-rs or dvd-rs. thanx for help
