"class not registered" problems with burned media files, only

I’ve downloaded a couple of WMP files which I’d like to burn onto CDs in order to free up my hard drive (using Easy CD Creator 4). Usually this works, no problem. But lately, files which play perfectly well off on my hard drive refuse to play once I’ve burned them onto a CD; I get a “class not registered” error message. Alternately, the file plays for only a few seconds, despite the fact that the file is ~350 MB. No matter which player I try (WMP Series 9 is my default), the whole thing either freezes or crashes.

Also, the file which gives my problems is always the “second” one of the pair I’m trying to burn onto a CD.

Any ideas? I don’t see anything that’s really changed since the time I could burn the CDs without problem — same source, same program, same codex, same package of blank CDs, etc.

I’m pretty computer illiterate, so please respond using small words! Thank you in advance.
