Nick Guest | Allright I just downloaded a show and its in .ogm and .sfv files and does anyone know how to make those into like an avi file or maybe even an mpg. Also does anyone know how to burn dvds because my friend bought a dvd burner and we were tring to burn something but i guess we need to convert it to another file and i belive the video we were tring to burn is an avi but how do we make it so we can burn it to a dvd?

jtt031891 Guest | i downloaded Endless waltz off of BitTorrent and one file is ogm. and the other is sfv. I tried to burn them using Nero Express but the files don’t show up. Then i tried ot convert them but Total Video Converter only recognizes ogm. but when i click convert a window titled Desktop just opens up. wdhat do i do to burn it and convert it?

bensonic Guest | Download VLC player. It’ll play it on your computer just fine.... in fact, its probably the best universal media player out there, and its freeware to boot.
As for the burning part.... its possible, but I"m not sure how.

I’m just pissed because I don’t understand why people make these stupid filetypes. I don’t care if I have to wait to download it, at least with .avi it’s guaranteed to work

SFV is basically a mathematical short checksum number based on the original file. When user downloads the original file and the .sfv file, user can use dedicated SFV check programs that use the SFV data to check the status of the downloaded file. If the SFV’s checsum data doesn’t match to the data that the validation program gets from the downloaded file, it typically means that the downloaded file is not complete or that the downloaded file has been corrupted during the transfer and needs to be downloaded again."

So, in short: Don’t worry about the .SFV
.RAR is a compression format, alternate version of .ZIP

Jess367392 Guest | You can always download CCCP, made specifically for animes/shows with those types of files. Google it, wikipedia has some useful info about it, and it also works for windows vista, which is a plus, as not many programs do.

Soumik Guest | I see some queries bout ogg conversion at the top of this page. use foobar which is a freeware, non-resource-intensive audio player which not only allows to play almost any audio format, it also allows you to convert almost any audio format to the basic standard ones with variable quality settings which u can tweak. Plus, it also has one of the best DSP and filter management systems which prolly ends up as too intense for most of our home audio equipments, but thats the added bonus, unless you go crazy with the loads of features and push them to their extremes, your speakers would be quite happy with it, and you’d get a far more optimal audio quality than u can generate in any other audio software i’ve tried out. Which basically, to round it all up, makes it the one-stop solution for audiophiles, be it for conversion, sound management, library building, batch re-encoding or batch re-naming of files, whatever u want to.
To give you all this, and yet be a light-weight program, it does cut down on the glam quotient, with a very minimalist get-up, no skinning options, nor any visualisations beyond a minimalist rhythm spectrum, but that i think one can live with for all that we get out of it.

405Line Guest | Dont worry abot sfv just figured this one out myself...all you have to do is crtl A the file and drop it into win rar for example and it will play (WMP)assuming you have the correct codec pack mine even appeared as an AVI file when it finished extracting(i`m sure many of you already know this).
