Ok I have a JVC Everio camera if your not familiar with the camera it records video onto a MicroDrive in mpeg2 format. I connect my camcorder to my Power MacG5 and it shows up as a Hard Drive. I then go and transfer all the .MOD files to my desktop. After this I use automator to change all the .MOD extension to .M2V. Now I have to make these files into a format that I can open in FCP or IMovie (while retaing the audio). I use an application called MPEG Streamclip this application extracts the audio and video into one file of my choice I have been using .DV. Now I can use the .DV files in Imovie or FCP and edit the video. When Im done doing that I have to export it into a file that I can use to burn in Toast or wherever. I have tried going straight to Idvd and burning and the outcome is a video that is blochy and pixelated. Anyone know where I’m going wrong?

I haven’t used a mac, but from using quicktime pro for windows, i know apple likes to set default quality settings to 'medium', which is LOUSY. It’s possibly what happened to you if you used the default settings without tinkering them. Look through the various steps of your conversion and try finding buttons that say something like “settings” or “advanced” and try playing with them.
