bruzzl Guest | ok issue solved:
system:
winxp home
all codecs installed
nvidia geforce go 6600
issue:
vlc => no video, just sound
wmp => no video, just sound
mplayerClassic => no video, just sound
winamp => video and sound
divx player => video and sound
gspot said something about could not connect output pin to input pin of blabla..
tried everything around codec installing/uninstalling, configuring, new DirectX, new Nvidia driver (graphics) .. etc
also tried winxp sp3 reinstall / rollback to 1st install etc..
also setting hardware accelleration to medium fixed the problem (but its crap leavin it that way!)
switching of direct3d also fixed the problem.. but thats crap too!
this finally solved my problem:
x) uninstall nvidia drivers (had 91.30 and for some time 156.xx drivers installed)
x) reboot
x) install old nvidia forceware drivers: 84.43 are working fine for my gforce go 6600
x) on install overwrite all nvidia files (setup may ask you if you want to leave the “newer” parts or replace them with your old 84.43 parts.. replace them
x) reboot
working
so it seems like an overlay issue between DirectX and the GraphicsDriver
hope this helps someone

Macyr livyed Guest | I think that i have the solution to all of your problems... First of all what type of resolution does your monitor have? i.e. 1024x840 or something or other. Anyway to see video I think that you need a monitor capable of t least 1024x what ever the second # is. I am not so sure on this because I have the same prob and my monitor is only 800x600 max. Place a reply if this helps you or does not help you at all...
Sincerely,
Macyr Livyed

k9plus1 Guest | Solution for me was same as tapakip’s.
Play a video
Open Catalyst control centre
Under Video->Presets
Change preset from 'custom' to 'home'
Worked.
Thanks!
