thankyou Guest | thanks for this important tip, i had the same problem for many months now.
every player starts and looks fine, but only plays audio.
it’s really the problem with the display settings of the graphics card. with some tests with primary, secondary and on/off, i could figure out to get video playing again.

Guest78 Guest | If you are using a laptop, try your function + Video Button to go to your TV. This should restore the settings on your laptop.

Kevin Thompson Guest | Had the same problem after I switched video cards.
Had an PCI ATI ALL-IN-WONDER and an AGP NVidia GF2.
Switched in a dual head GF 6600 GT.
Tried CCCP, no help, tried reinstalling divx (brought back audio), tried reinstalling WMP11 for codecs, nothing.
Tried reinstalling NV drivers, no help.
Finally, I reinstalled the directx drivers, which finally got it.

pinkuroboto Guest | Try uninstalling your player and divx codec and install them again. That’s what I did and my videos are playing now. If it doesn’t work, I’m sorry ^^

Anonymous11 Guest | This issue was resolved for me by going into the Catalyst Control Panel, VIDEO settings and applying the HOME Video Preset.
The issue first occurred after I updating my ATI drivers.

Paulo Lacerda Guest | I was having the same problem.
I solved it by doing this:
NVidia Geforce7300 GT on “full screen video controls” - It was disable for some reason.. - choosed “Primary display adapter” - apply
Cheers

Deepcage Guest | Guys, i also have/had this problem
No video but sound is fine, happens with all my playback programs, VLC, Winamp, Divx Player, WMP 11...
Its a VISTA problem, as it seems to work fine on my winxp pro install.
However, i did get it to work in vista with VLC.

thanks a lot, your ATI workaround works just like a charm.
I’ve been messing with video overlay lately since I got me a now PCTV card, and when I checked out, video overlay settings were in “custom”. Just reseted them to “Home” now. :]
