Pete Guest | Hi, i had the same problem. Downloaded Star_wars_III (3)_Revenge_of_the_Sith_2005_Divx_AC3 (1).avi
and couldnt get rid of the shit. I kept getting a message that another person or program was running. Well after checking all the running processes i found a little file running called SOUNDMAN.exe . This is normally a windows file but is also part of a worm called
'W32/Agobot-JS' to get rid of this little bastard read teh instructions at this link:
http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/w32agobotjs.html
reboot your computer and you should be able to delete the fake avi.

chilleze Guest | When you select a .avi or .mpeg file in Explorer, it will load the file in memory to present you with a thumbnail/preview when needed. If the file happens to be big, it will take a long time and a lot of resources. You won’t be able to delete/move/rename the file during this activity either.
You can disable the .avi file handler in registry, but beware - you’ll also lose the ability to see clip properties in the properties window.
Here’s how you do it:
1. Open up regedit
2. Goto HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shellex\PropertyHandler
3. Delete the “Default” value which should be "{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489- 5FE6850DC73E}\InProcServer32"

Bailoute Guest | Hello,
I was blocked with “Star_wars_III (3)_Revenge_of_the_Sith_2005_Divx_AC3 (1).avi
" and couldn’t get rid of it. Downloading GiPo is THE solution, I managed to delete the 744 MB file.
Thanks to Geoff Large for his advises

p0lski Guest | For the person that Downloaded it and said that it works ... S*UT THE F*CK UP.
For everyone else, launch you favourite hex editior (HView, WinHEX) and check the file out .. over 700MB’s of 0’s ... thats right boys and girls.
The only valid thing in the file is the header and the footer, thats it. Delete it and move on.
Its not even a porn, how depressing.
Cheers, | |

p0lski Guest | And no its not a virus,
Why is it that when you all can’t explain whats happening straight away you go Virus Virus.
If you open it and its eating your resources, its because the file is blank, so launching your fav classic plyer, winamp, bsplayer whatever and making it think its a valid avi, tho its not. Well you know the rest of the story.
And then he gets his arms and legs chopped off,
Have a Nice Day, | |

p0lski Guest | To delete it,
You can
1) boot to safe mode, log in as admin ( or someone with admin rights) kill it.
2) You can get MoveOnbOOT and that will help ya out
3)if for some magical reson you could rename it from the command line you can do that too.
Ok This time im going its a freaking waste of time,

shortie Guest | File is a fake ........best way to delete the file is go to RUN , type REGEDIT and go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTSystem File Assosiation.avishellexProperty Handler and delete the default value. Then restart the computer and now you can delete the file.
Worked for me ...........Posted by chilleze
this is the best way to deal with silly undeletable files used it lots of times if its done right it is great but go through in stages as cut and past dont always work ie:1=HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT 2=System 3= File Assosiation 4=avishellexProperty Handler

Canolaoil Guest | To delete it:
Make sure Windows Media Player is not running and no other program is trying to use it. Right click the file and select delete. Empty the Recycle Bin. That’s how I did it, boys and girls. It worked like a charm!
