qball Guest Leprechawn... I would suggest VirtualDub - http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/ It’s one of the best AVI processors available. It does more than join/split AVIs. You can also frameserve your videos and convert them to DVD or VCD. It’s free software but there’s a slight learning curve. But once you get the hang of it, you’ll not want to go back.

Duke Guest I have a DVD I want to import into a Final Cut movie. Stuman179 Guest I’m having problems using nero to burn a iso to dvd I first open up nero burning rom then i go file, open and select the cue then from the drop down menu i select image files then I click on open then the problem happens I can’t select DVD from the drop down menu. It already has CD selected but I want DVD Can someone out there please help me. I’m in jeopardy

Select “DVD-Video” in the left menu frame. 4. Click on the “Open” button at the bottom right. 5. Select “DVD Image” in the left menu frame. 6. Browse for your image file and click “Open”. 7. Select your burn speed. 8. Click on “Burn”. And you should be set. Let us know how it goes.

Brenda Guest When watching some movies on the computer the sound is fine but when playing them in the dvd player the sound is all messed up and you can’t understand a word they are saying. This has only happened to two movies so far so can someone please tell me what I need to do. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Brenda Guest They are downloaded from shareware on the computer and then I put them in the divx to dvd converter and then in dvd shrink and then on to a dvd.I have been very sucessful doing this except with two movies. Once they are put on the dvd they will play back fine on the computer but not in a dvd player and all the others do. It just doesn’t make any sense.Thanks for your help

You can only burn it onto a CD and that’s what Nero’s recognizing it as - a VCD. If I’m wrong and it really is a .ISO file for a DVD, then something is definitely wrong with your copy of Nero 6.6. I would suggest that you update it. @ Brenda Load your AVI (I’m assuming it’s an AVI file here) into GSpot ( http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ ) and see what type of audio codec is used for the film’s audio stream. Also check and make sure that it says that it was encoded at 48000 Hz. Look under the “Audio” section for all that info. We want to make sure that the source AVI is kosher under its hood.

Using VirtualDubMod, save the audio stream as a WAV file. 2. Use Sound Forge to edit the WAV to match its timing with the video. 3. Then use VirtualDubMod to join the video with the newly edited audio. This is just a summary, of course. But if you’re truly interested in this method, I can give you a more detailed instruction on what to do. First, you would have to download VirtualDubMod: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdubmod/VirtualDubMod_1_5_10_2_All_inclusive.zip?download Then, you would need Sony Sound Forge* or any other good audio editing software. http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/products/soundforgefamily.asp * Sound Forge costs $300, so it’s okay if you want to use something that costs less.
