JayKo Guest | Ok I have been trying to figure out how to burn my movies to DVD for about three weeks now, and finally I think i have mastered it. I know that the forums aren’t really clean cut on how to do it, so hopefully I can help the person out who was just like me a few weeks ago. Ok here we go...
Download your movie how ever you do it. Use Winrar if the file needs to be extracted. Now you have your movie, an .MPG, .AVI, or a .bin-.cue file.
If you have an avi or an mpg download VSO DivxToDvd.(its Free)
If you have a .bin and .cue file then you have to download VCDgear too. These programs can be found on download.com or a simple search on a search engine(altavista worked perfectly for me).
If your file is a bin/cue use VCDgear to convert it to an mpg file then you are ready to use vso divxtodvd.
Open the program for source, select the movie. Then the problem I had for the longest time, I left the Aspect and Standard on Automatic. Change Standard to Force NTSC 29.97 FPS and the Aspect is up to you 16:9 is Wide screen and 4:3 is full screen. MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE THESE THOUGH OR IT WONT WORK. Once thats set press convert and wait until its done. When done the program has created a VIDEO_TS file for your movie and has converted it to 2 .BUP, 2 .IFO, and 1-10 .VOB files. These files are whats read by the dvd player.
Now you just need to burn the files. A DVD-R or DVD+R, depends on what your dvd player reads. Also you need the burning software. Nero is what I use and it’s really simple. Nero usually puts the files in order for you in which they need to be put but just incase you arent using nero this is the order.
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB and so on until you have all the VOB on. and thats it. Hopefully this was simple enough for you guys to understand and saves you the time and effort of trying 50 different programs. Let me know if this has helped or if you have any questions
Good Luck,
JAY

JayKo Guest | Actually it is easier to use VSo Copy to DVD to do the actuall burning, choose DVD video then hit cancel when it asks to open the file. YOu will see a AUDIO_TS and a VIDEO_TS folder. double click the video ts folder and put all the files in. then go to action then write and your done

labish Guest | Good job Jayko but all this work done by you is here:http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/ .If you are ok how to find the avi file to make a dvd is very good. The point is you can not make a rule is only this way.Depends by files by format by root of the movie by video system and if at the end you have a working dvd you can say to yourself “I’m good”.My kid never read a how to tutorial is much easier to ask and a lot of guys on this site ask even the question was answered 1000 times.

I use DVD Decryptor to rip the movie onto my computer, them to shrink and burn the movie I use DVD Shrink with Nero 6 and it burns great onto a 4.7 GB DVD-R. The only problem is when I watch the movie it stops for a few seconds as if the DVD is scratched and after a couple of seconds the movie will resume, but other than that the DVD works perfectly. It usually freezes up a few times throughout the movie....Does anyone know what the problem is?????????????

labish Guest | The old style to backup a dvd WAS Decrypter and the Shrink good tools but since than we got more software faster and better. One combination is DVD Idle and DVD Fab another one is Any DVD and 1 Click DVD Copy.None freeware but the bad news is the Decrypter is forced to go out of business and we don’t know yet about the Shrink. If by any chance you’re able to try the pairs I told you, you can make the difference by yourself.Copy at the quality almost 1:1 and the speed is a big gain.Just try it.

details of the files that should go on a DVD!
I had them all and was dithering as to whether I
should leave out the BUP files when burning with
Nero but when I read your message, I shoved them
all in and as you stated, Nero did the sorting
and everything burned beautifully, with my ending
up with one complete movie on a DVD instead of
the original two SVCDs with half a movie on each!
Computer folk are the best!

dkk Guest | I have Nero 6 Ultra Edition. I am trying to burn avi video and of course Nero only recognizes ifo, bup or vob formats. Please tell me how to convert to the recognized format.

Try DVDFab Decrypter at http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
It copies the entire DVD movie to your hard disk. And it removes all the protections (CSS, RC, RCE, Macrovision, UOPs and Sony ARccOS) while it’s copying.
Or try SmartRipper v2.41 (do a Google search for it).
These are two of the very best DVD rippers out there with tons of great features.

Tranceforma79 Guest | Ok my problem isn’t with the ripping my problem is actually burning the movie to my DVDr. Ok the movie works great, up until oh i say about half way through the movie then it freezes. Its very frustrating when your watching a movie and this happens. I’ve used just about every program there is on the market, DVDPlatinum, 1clickdvd, DVDFab, CloneDVD etc. I have even used DVDShrink, DVD Decrypter, DVD region+css etc and still doesn’t work. Does anyone else have the same problem??
I don’t think its my dvd players as i’ve tried a few and same problem. Don’t think its the brand of my dvdr’s as i’ve tried a few different ones as well and they not cheap ones. an anyone help pls cos i can’t afford to throw out half watched dvd movies anymore hehe!!

I had the same problem when I was using DVD Decryptor and DVD Shrink. The movie would just stop and freeze up. I changed the programs to DVD Fab, and I haven’t had the problem since. From what i have heard DVD Decryptor and DVD Shrink is outdated.....Hope this helps....
