Molu Guest | i downloaded a movie that has the words xvid-brutus, DVDRIP, and peerweb.org in its file name. took me a very long time to do it. but now i can’t play it.
i’ve tried WMP 10 and PowerDVD. Both play the video but can not play the sound(it’s silent). WMP shows error downloading codec.
GSpot says I’ve got the sound codec(Dolby) installed and 4 compatiable video codecs(xvid).
I’ve downloaded Kiopis binary of XVid 1.1.0-beta2.
When I push render in GSpot it says partial failure. Some streams are in unsupported format.
Bitzi gives three reviews for the file, all of them give it a “complete”, with one saying the best dvd rip out there. So I guess it can’t be a fake. one reviewer says that it has two tracks of audio so it’s a bit hard to find the right codec.
Any idea how I can make the file(two of them actually, two discs of the same movie) play? It will be really bad if after downloading 1.5 GB I’ve to delete them.
Thanks.

peerweber Guest | Sounds like you may need the AC3 audio codec...

Molu Guest | Instaling Ace Mega Pro Codecs Pack fixed the problem, though I had to pay the price in that it hacked WMP and changed it, which I don’t like.

labish Guest | A mega pack is very complex and is doing a lot of stuff and if you don’t want it is normal on my computer is changing some setting on media centre so unistall it and install only what you need an AC3 codec for sound and some Xvideo players like VideoLan or BSplayer.I’ve install only Codecs 6026 from www.free-codecs.com or here is another link: http://avicodec.duby.info/ I don’t use Power DVD or WMP but I’m not sure work for a Xvid file. Here is link for WMP codecs: http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/0/3/a0398036-25b9-410c-b371-c59957c1b0f4/WM9Codecs.exe
