I have 2 sony drives on my computer - a SONY CD-RW CRX230ED and SONY CD-RW CRX320E. I am trying to burn DVD and I have tried SONY DVD-R & SONY DVD+R 8X disks, but neither drive recognises the DVD disks, although they recognise TDK CD-R80 disks. I have used various software to try and burn movies I have downloaded - I have run these movies through VSO DIVX TO DVD,then used DVD Shrink and then am using DVD Decrypoter to burn, and have used other burning software but each time I am told the disk I have entered is not a writablke medium of the medium is not present. Is there a problem with these drives? i.e. I tyake it one of these drives should allow me to burn DVDs (that is what I aksed for when I bought the PC) Should I be able to burn DVDs on these drives and if so am I using the wrong disks? If so which disks do I need?

ANY HELP PLEASE??

thanks

Damn - just looked up the spec for the drive I thought was a DVD writer drive and it says “Sony brings the best of both worlds together with the new CRX320E CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. The new CRX320E combines high performance 52X max. CD-R and 24X max. CD-RW burning and 16X max. DVD-ROM reading capabilities into a standard half-height PC compatible drive. CD-R/RW burning is fast and reliable thanks to the built in buffer underrun protection. It is an ideal drive for those who have limited drive bays in their PC but want to add high performance CD burning and DVD-ROM reading to their systems. ". So does this mean I can burn CDs but can only play DVDs? If so ******

Which is the best DVD drive to go for that will allow me to burn DVDs. Thanks

jensonclio. Thanks for your help with this. My computer is only a couple of months old so don’t want to start removing drives as might affect warranty? So think I might go for an external drive. Any recommendations? I have bought 8X speed DVD-R & dvd+r disks so does that mean I need to stick to an 8x speed writer drive, as some of the ones I have looked at are 16x speed ones. As you can tell I am a novice at this stuff so any advice is appreciated

thanks
