MpHendi Guest | I have been using WMP10 for the last few months and I havent had any problems playing my AVI files. A couple days ago, though, none of my files seemed to play correctly anymore. Video was gone, but audio was coming through. This was happening with all of my files. So, through the use of Google, I came upon the Gspot program, used it on a couple of my files, and found that the codec that I was missing was Xvid.
Upon loading the Xvid codec, the video came back, but was playing about 5 times as slow as the audio (which was still playing corrctly) and incredibly jerky.
DVDs, similarly, have been playing at normal speed, but are jerky and the frames per second seems low. I dont know if the DVD issue is related or not, as i do not use WMP for them.
Have also tried to lay AVI files in other media players (Real, DivX, etc). Video quality is the same everywhere.
Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

jensonclio Guest | hi 4 a start stop using wmp full stop its pants use power dvd or windvd or something about the files your playing it might be that u dont have the proceeser or ram to play these better so if i was u i would use a different media player preferably power dvd

ian Guest | i have been having the same problem! i had it fixed for awhile by reinstalling WMP10 and it just started again about a month after. i have plenty of RAM so i don’t think that is the problem. besides if i don’t use it for awhile it goes back to normal...i can’t seen to figure it out!

labish Guest | I don’t get it why so many guys are stuck on WMP.You can find better players freeware so what’s the problem? Download VLC or BSplayer and be sure you have DivX and Xvid codecs.All codecs are included in any codec pack you like.I have install all in one is smaller and works ok for me.Here is a link: http://www.free-codecs.com/

ian Guest | its not the player...i have vlc too...same problem...i got it fixed now tho...i went in the BIOS and changed the “Cache” section to “write back” instead of “write through"

ian Guest | some computers are different...it will usually tell you when you start up your system before windows starts...on my computer you have to hit the delete button as soon as you turn on your comp. be careful what you change in there!

jackie Guest | I have had the same problem with the video being jumpy and the video not playing at the same speed as the audio or not video just audio. It happens on all different player I have about 6 different players and they are all the same but only with paticular files, once I installed the xvid codec I had no more problems. I had all the other codecs. You should get the ACE MEGA CoDecS Pack. It has almost all the codecs you may need and some utilities. Then I added the xvid codec. now I have not problems.
