.bin/.cue error playback

Hey I seem to have a problem... I looked at most of the posts concerning .bin/.cue files and how to burn them to cd-r using nero. I took the advice and using Nero 5 i tried burning a movie to the the disc, but when it finished burining i tried to play it using vlc and it says there is no cd, as though it was a blank disc. Here are the steps i took to burn it and plz let let me know what im doing wrong. Thanks for all the help.
1.open nero 2.compile cd 3.other formats 4.image file 5.went to folder where .bin/.cue file located 6.showed only .cue file, selected it and selected burn disc at 44x speed on the fly(without saving to hard drive)
