Picture resolution and settings????

I’ve been trying to watch subtitled anime and cant get the picture to show the subtitles. I’ve tried everything i can think of. Mp4 Dvd - Nero Recode [dvd player couldnt read it], Converting to Vob - WinAvi [the subtitles were barely visible but not enough to read], NeroVision Express [the subtitles couldnt be read]. Anyone have an idea how i can burn these files and still watch without having the 1/2 reduced picture?

I noticed most burning programs only have 720x580/480. Does this have anything to do with it?
