Entree Rep: 0 Joined: 01 May 2005 Posts: 1 OFFLINE | Hi, my name is sarah, And I’m having a lil' problem...
A’right, I’ve been looking around the forums, and other sites for my solution, but I haven’t found anything, and I don’t wanna waste my whole day here.
Soooo.
problem: I dowloaded a bittorrent file named
Furi_Kuri_(FLCL)_05.DVD(AAC)[KAA][C7AACBC0]
Now, at first video didn’t work, so I downloaded a whole load of crap, then I got it going, but noooow,
the audio doesn’t work, I’m running it on windows media player 10, and when it boots up, it tries to “download” a codec, but fails. No idea, what codec I need, any would do...
I tried it on quick time, but every program just cannot find the right audio codec/tag.
If you can, please give me some links or other ways of help.

Aeon Guest | The name of the codec package you need is from the Kick Ass Anime site at www.kickassanime.tk.
It will install all of the following:
- Media Player Classic 6.4.8.3 (player)
- VSFilter 2.35 (subtitles filter)
- Matroska Splitter 1.0.2.5 (mkv support)
- AC3Filter 0.7.0.0 (audio codec)
- CoreAAC 1.1.0.642 (audio codec)
- CoreVorbis 1.0 (audio codec - not used by KAA)
- XviD 1.0.2 (video codec)
- WMV9 VCM (video codec)
**Please note:
- Installing XviD will disable DivX’s “Support
generic MPEG-4”; (else it would take over and
result in bad decodes)
- Installing XviD or WMV9 will disable FFDShow’s
support for them; (why do you even have FFDShow
anyway?)
- Installing AC3Filter will automatically raise
it’s gain to maximum.
- Media Player Classic has been pre-configured
not to use the problematic splitters.
- KAA doesn’t use OGG Vorbis sound, but the
decoder is included in this pack because other
groups do.
At one time, I dozens of alpha, beta, proprietary and hacked codecs and a whole slew of multimedia players installed one on top of the other....and it got to the point that they all became so unstable that they quite functioning all together. After KAA released the codec package with integrated media player classic, I promptly got rid of WMP 10, Winamp 5, Nero, Apple Quicktime, Real Networks Player, DIVX Player, and Power DVD. (you can get the quicktime and real media alternative codecs for the media player classic for free, and they do not have annoying ads or popup reminders). And I saved over 150 megs of harddrive space too! | | | 26 May 2005 02:29 pm |
TopsyTurvy Guest | Why all these damn stupid players when U can have 1 of the best player around @ the moment. Here’s the link.
Download Real Alternative 1.38 : Real Alternative will allow you to play RealMedia
files without having to install RealPlayer/RealOne Player.

Aeon Guest | Um.....you do know the the Real Player Alternative, Apple Quicktime Alternative, DivX Player Alternative, MS Media Player Alternative, and whatever-the-frak-else are all repackages of this player?

It just so happens that Kick-Ass Anime puts together a well-rounded kit that satisfies the request of the topic-starter. There are countless packages of the Media Player Classic floating out there, and you are free to put together a custom codec package for your own personal needs. If you need a “fire and forget” solution I would be happy to assemble a custom package for anybody, just post the details of your request here.
Fun Fact: Does the Media Player Classic look strangly familiar? Well guess what?! It’s the very same player (updated, of course) that comes with every version of Microsoft Windows from '95 to XP! Just another example of an excellent open-source app mutilated and modified and branded under the Microsoft trademark..... | | | 31 May 2005 07:01 pm |

Aeon Guest | I’ve heard good things about the Monkey Player, but I have reservations about installing any application with such a silly-sounding name....lol
For all of you who need to be on the cutting edge of media playback technology, and are looking for a skinnable, pluggable, all-in-one media player that handles every codec you can through at it without eating up all your real-time resources, try the following link:
http://forum.zhentarim.net/viewtopic.php?t=239
This is history in the making...for the first time ever, the Combined Community Codec Package!
It’s even available in two flavors: Media Player Classic for the ultra-minimalists out there, and the Zoom Player for those who just don’t know when to stop tweaking their OS....
And, for those of you who loathe all-in-wonder installers and who positively insist on your own custom install, there is a highly-detailed FAQ and installation guide written in multiple languages, with directions and links to download, install, setup, and save your favorite profile.
Now that you don’t have to torture yourself for hours configuring and re-configuring drivers and codecs, what will you do with all that extra time on your hands?
