players are crashing

Not sure what I really did, but i just recently installed the lastest gordian knot and a few other codecs i found through bearshare. I installed the ones from bearshare first then gordian knot. Ever since doing that streaming video and even some files on my computer will not play. The sites I go to use wmp and the files are i am trying to open on my computer are set to open in real player. Both will start and then the program crashes. I think it is a codec install, but I unistalled all of gordian knot to the best of my knowledge. Do i need to change things in my registery too. I even unistall all video codecs in the device manager and both programs still crash. Has any one had something similar.
A side not is that i may have screwed up the gordian knot install, but i think i unistall everything and then reinstall and still issue occurs.
