Film Bandit Guest | Hey if anyone knows where I can get the DVSD codec please tell me.
I have an AVI file I digitized with Premier on another computer and now I can’t manage to convert it to a small file to share with friends let alone view it at all!
THanks.

Regular Rep: 5 Joined: 20 Nov 2004 Posts: 1,269 | DVSD is digital video in an AVI container. DirectX 8 and up has a free decoder in it. You can grab DirectX 9c here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=9226A611-62FE-4F61-ABA1-914185249413&displaylang=en
Note that Microsoft’s DVSD decoder is DirectShow-only (like its motion jpeg decoder), so you can’t do editing with it in a program like VirtualDub (or a program that uses Video for Windows as opposed to DirectShow). If you need an alternate decoder there’s several ones
Panasonic DV: http://users.tpg.com.au/mtam/install_panvfwdv.htm
Canopus DV: http://www.canopus.us/US/Products/index/products_software_utilities_plug-ins.asp
MainConcept has one at the bottom of this page: http://www.mainconcept.com/downloads.shtml
You may find more by googling.

LatinFilmStudent Guest | Hy, i have a problem similar to the film bandit.
i had Premiere in my computer but it crashed, lucky for me i saved the files somewhere else, but now i dont have premier yet and i cant see my videos. ¿By installing Premiere i also instal the DVSD codec? If not, ¿when i use a decoder, do i modify the file or i only read it?
Hope any one can help me....
