DVDSCR stands for DVD Screener, it is a copy of the movie that is sent out from the studio to reviewers so they can review the movie and write reviews before the release.

For the codec, you can usually get away with using something like Cole2k which will handle 98% of what is out there. I would also suggest getting a program such as PowerDVD or something similar to watch DVD files.

Lastly, what was posted above about WinRar will work, but there is no point in going through all that trouble and time.

1. Download Winrar and install from www.rarsoft.com.

2. Make sure all of your rar, r01, r02, or 001, 002, 003 etc files are in the same dir.

3. Find either the file that ends with .rar or .001 and right click on it and choose extract here. (Alternately you can just double click the file and use the GUI to pick where to extract the files.)

4. Wait for it to finish then delete the .rar or 001 files.

5. Watch your file or burn to a dvd, if you want to burn a dvd, pick up Nero for doing such.

I would like to preview a movie by downloading only the rar.001 part. Is it possible?

Thanks Ismail216 for the info

I tried your method, it created a file but it was still in .rar format. I just usually extract the part01.rar and it contains the whole movie which I can play in — .avi format. I don’t know what the rest of the parts e.g. to 49 are used for. They all seem to be same videos to me.

I haven’t seen any postings on the net from other people to really explain this. Can anybody shed light on this matter.? Much appreciated

First - you can’t preview the movie per se, sometimes you can get a fragment of the movie to play from a broken archive set, and if you are lucky allot of times there is a sample listed separately to preview.

The other file name parts of the rar file, r01 r02 etc are part of the whole movie file. When using WINRAR it knows to look for the next file name r02 and pull the information from it and move on to the next. Think of the file as a piece of paper and WINRAR tears it into multiple pieces, once all the pieces are in the same area (downlaoded) you run WINRAR again and it 'tapes' them back together. The rar file is encoded with the number of corresponding files when the file is split.

hi,

i’ve just dl-ed a file with folder name .LiMiTED.DVDSCR.XviD-DoNE and after following the instructions in the above-mentioned (open all files including .r00 - .r48 .sfv .rar in WinRar, then extract), i got a file name .LiMi.DVDSCR.XviD-Done.1.avi. But whenever I try to open the file or go to the folder where the .1.avi file is, the Windows Explorer Error prompt comes up (the one which says “Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." and with the Send Error Report/Don’t send button. I tried restarting the comp but it doesn’t work. Any help please??

I have downloaded part 1 of 8 of a movie. I want to preview th file before I download the other parts. It is a RAR file and when i try to extract it, it says please browse to the folder with part 2. Is there any way to see a little bit of the movie without downloading the whole thing?
