Videos play with a green screen

I have an issue my files that i watch and have watched before i reformated my pc will show video in the form of a green screen the audio works through whats the problem how can i fix this issue what codecs should i use i have tried nimo i have dixv, nero, and a few others and yet everything i have tried will not work.
