Hello!
I have converted img to iso, burned some movies but all movies get f*cked up or something... I can see the beginning but then somewhere in the movie it starts to go faster, no sound and frozen screen. Anyone have an idea?

Under Linux just use K3B’s option to burn
an ISO image ... no need to rename at all!

I’m having a problem with the .img to DVD, but not in regards to movies.
I recently downloaded The Sims 2 for OS X and it mounted perfectly as an .img on my hardrive. UNFORTUNATELY, when I burn the thing via DVD, the game prompts me to “insert the original DVD”. I have no idea why it’s asking me this as I burned the DVD directly from the .img file without messing around.
I DO have a crack for The Sims 2, so I can play the game, but I’d much rather play while using the DVD I burned. I had no problem doing this with the first edition of The Sims, but that was with a CD and I was able to fool the game into thinking it was the original.

Is it just not possible to fool The Sims 2 because it’s using a DVD?

....I’m beginning to confuse myself.
If anyone can help me out with this whole thing, it would be much appreciated.

I confirm as well. I changed a .img file created from Adobe Encore to a .iso file and opened it with Roxio Disc Copier and it worked fine. It would not open when it was a .img file. Thanks for the tip!

Ok, there’s been many ways posted here to burn an .img file movie to DVD, here’s the easiest. You’ll need DaemonTools and Nero and a DVD, I use DVD+R. First load up the .img file in DaemonTools, for me it shows up as being in Drive E. Next, fire up Nero Express. Go to add files, and then just add them from the drive that Daemon has provided. If you don’t know where that is, go to Run->My Computer and it will show you which drive the .img Movie file is loaded in. Bam! It automatically adds all the .bop, .vob, etc., files from the .img DVD movie file mounted in your Daemon drive. Notes: My original video file was 4 gig .img DVD movie file.

Neville, To answer the first part of your question, yes you can play a .img without burning or mounting. I use Nero ShowTime. Just right mouse click the file name and “open with” Nero ShowTime. I have only had 2 or 3 .img files out of dozens that would not play.
FYI

Which player should I use to playback my .img video file? Are there any players/codecs I’m required to download in order to view my img file? Thanks.

U’ll have 2 convert it 1st. Use dvd shrink.

When do you use dvd shrink? When it doesn’t load on your dvd player/system?

annother alternative would be to open the .img file with winrar, extract the contents to a folder, then burn the folder to an image file, then use dvd shrink to re-auther the files.

ok:

so i downloaded a DVD copy of the decent (2005) and i downloaded it AS a series of rar files. i then un-rared these to release an image file (*.IMG). after trying to burn said image file to DVD i found that nero wasnt gonna do it as a video disc, but simply only as a udf data disc. not alot of help.

i then found on here that simply changing the extension to *.iso did the trick... but!
i found something else other than reported...
after renaming the file to iso, winrar then picked it up again as another rar archive, and inside here were audio and video ts folers.

then i burn those like normal video dvd.

i thought i would mention this in case some people find that renaming there img to iso, like mine doesnt create and iso, but another rar file.

just keep raring and renaming smiley

btw, great forum; well usefull; keep up the good work!

rips for teh win!

I downloaded some movies, and they are .avi, .mpeg & other file types (not .iso) I have Alcohol 120 and can successfully burn an .iso file to dvd+rw and play it on my dvd player, but am totally lost as to how to get those other file types to burn and play successfully with Alc 120.

Also, i noticed that .iso movies are around 4 gigs, other types are around 700 megs, can anyone explain this vast difference to me?

Thanks in advance
