You know what, I am having the exact same problem. I have some mp4 files from my cell phone that will not play on anything. I’ve tried everything mentioned above also. I am thinking someone try downloading the file and see if they can get it to work right.
Let me know if anyone is will to do this.

if you want to play this video use TCPMP v0.72 or higher
its 100%working. and convert with xilisoft video converter (need registration or crack/serial))))

Just an FYI - Quicktime works but you must update it. Mine wasn’t updated. Select the second option to install the additional software. That would be the MP4 software.

Correction: Go to the link below and download Quicktime 7.2 from CNET download.com. Still free and it worked for me without any errors!

Try the Apple MovieTime player. My Sanyo hand CamCorder records in this format and I use Apples player.

i have the same problem of RAM, the same error, i converted it to .mov and the same thing happended, it opens and sounds but my screen turns all black and my monitor settings change, and says “ialmrnts” or something is not working, i´ve tried the windows media player, the VLC,the K-lite, the combined community pack, the haali media and the essentials code pack and always happen the same thing.
any help would be appreciated.

The suggestion by Kentavros Pilievs on 07 May 2005 07:25 pm worked for me. I had a movie that now plays pretty good on windows media player.

Hey guys, well i too have tried many programs on my pc to play mp4 but i recently purchased a zune and the program that supports it plays mp4! but not all, wierd huh? sometimes it will play mp4s but their are a certain type that it won’t play, but it worked for me so hopefully it can work for you other folks!

same problem with me whenever i transfer a video from my pocketpc it is in mp4 extension and i can only play the video without the audio in vlc =(
