I often had problems burning DVD’s so I bought a DVD player that reads Divx and Xvid files so now I can put four movies on one DVD and no hassles I just down load the movie and use drag n drop to the DVD wrting program

If your avi or mpg files are not in the correct size for VCD or DVD Nero rebuilds them and let me tell you something, the resulted video file just SUCK.
Dont let Nero to resample-redecode your video files, better give him the correct files converting with some other tool to VCD.

I use VSO software to burn avi movies. I downloaded and installed DivxToDVD and CopyToDVD from VSO’s website (http://www.vso-software.fr) and use them together to burn. It has worked very well for me so far. However, since I too am very new to this, I have kind of a stupid question. I want to burn a movie that is 150 minutes, and most DVDs say they can only hold 120 minutes. If I use DivxToDVD to convert this movie and burn it with CopyToDVD, will it all fit onto one DVD? Or do I somehow need to split the movie onto two discs (if so, how would I split the movie)?

Nice post and very funny! Blackwolf uncheck burn with copy to dvd and play with the video ts folder a litle bit.If you use Nero Vision add the vob file from your video ts folder and click on more at the bottom of the screen and go video options. Is an option to burn your vob file in long play or extra long play to fit the dvd5.You may lose some quality. Also Clone DVD2 is adjusting the quality of your dvd in order to fit the dvd5.Click on help at right upper corner of the interface and read about it.Another option is to use dvd Shrink. Here is a guide very old for me how to use dvd Shrink: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=49051.Or if you convert this vob from a file use WinAvi and before converting click on advanced and activate the splitter and the size of your cuts.

yep i agree it is much easier to buy a dvd player that supports divx than it is to try and convert them constantly. i just got my divx player today from newegg.com. cost me 55 bucks. so instead of spend dumb ass money on converting programs just spend the 55 bucks on a dvd player that supports divx (like dood above mentioned) and drag and burn.

Here is the COMPLETE and PERFECT guide to Burn DVD :
and above of all things : the fastest way.
i think like X6 times from all the convertors :

first of all you need the AVI file, of course you can merge several Files to one MPEG file in DVD format.

1. you need : “Cucusoft mpeg to dvd converter” (the last version is 6.15 , 6.13 is good either)
BTW: it’s not just amazing fastest, its also the most saving space in your drive.

1. after you convert the avi to MPEG in dvd mode,
(of course you can auto add subtitles to your movie and select Quality, output format PAL or NTSC )
you need to use :“mpeg to VOB - dvd author” , that can be also download from www.cucusoft.com

the last version here is 1.8
in about 15 mins. you convert mpeg to vob file in 2 directories:
Audio_TS
Video_TS

3. open NERO.
choose : compliation method : DVD
select : DVD-Video. and press “new”

than drag&drop the Video_TS folder into the left windows and burn it with the slowest speed you can.

ALL THESE ACTIONS CAN BE DONE IN 3 HOURS maximum, and you never find something faster,
it’s a promise.

Have fun ,

Hey O.G.: Okay I’m using dvd santa right now, and it is slow for me. I have a 2600+xp, 1 gig of ram,. How much faster of a cpu would make dvd santa run faster. It’s taking me like almost 2hrs to convert mpeg to dvd. Or am I doing something wrong?

Old computers under 1 GHz CPU or small RAM under 512 MB is doing this.Converting from one avi to DVD is a big job and the final video TS is around 2-3 Gb size.My old HP 900 MHz CPU was taking about 12 hours to convert a dvd from a avi using TMPGEnc.A good speed for converting is good to have a big RAM as 1 GB is a must.If you have both your problem is something else.

Here is a link to Magic Iso tutorials. From bin with this tool you can extract the avi file and in order to make a dvd convert avi to dvd and burn it.WinAvi is very popular on this site Google WinAvi and download it.With Ulead the story is longer and complicated.http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/tutorials.htm

You need to upgrade your Nero 6 to Ultra Nero 6;go to Nero’s website (I think it’s just nero.com) and download all the newest upgrades (there are 6 of them). Once you have got Nero Vision Express 3.1.0.11, you will be able to add avi files just the way they are. Be careful though to check the DVD’s on a DVD player after you have burned it, because sometimes some avi files won’t play on anything but the computer. I think these are the DivX avi files, so you might need to convert these using VSO DivXtoDVD. Remember, it doesn’t matter what file format you are using (ie. mpeg, avi, VOB, dvr-ms, rm, wmv), a 2 hour movie will still be a 2 hour movie when you are burning it to DVD with Nero 6.

Hope this helps.
