Converting AVI to DVD and burning is a lot of headache and takes too damn long. Its much more convenient to go buy a DVD player that plays DivX files. I just did that. Now I just burn a bunch of .avi files onto the DVD as data and play it on the DivX DVD player to watch on the big screen. I usually get 10+ TMD movies onto a single disk. Its way too cool. Just go get yourselves a DVD player which is capable of playin DivX and relieve yerselves of this headache wink

wtf, its not that damn hard. just use nerovision express. add the files under dvd movie and custom make the menu and wallah. you have a dvd. You need a plugin for nero. Its not that hard. just go to google and type in nero mpg2 plugin. you have to be a retard not to figure it out. It is very simple. a 10 year old could use it.

Hi to all who have suggested winavi; I have acquired this and registered. It looks like a great little program and everything seems fine except that after converting my AVIs to MPEGs, my resultant MPEGs have no sound when played back on my computer using VLC or similar. I have yet to burn them to VCD but I assume they won’t have any sound either. Can anyone help?

Hey, it is Colin. I guess I registered, and now I can’t remember my password, so I cannot login as Colin. However, it is still me. I was just checking some of the feedback that I was getting. The reason the tutorial I posted is so long and complicated is because a friend of mine gave it to me, and that is the way I have been doing it for months. However, when my main computer gets fixed, I will try some of the ways that other posters use, and I will try to write a tutorial based on my findings of the best method. Good luck everyone in burning your movies.

OG, that is the way I have learned how to do it, and it works perfectly for me. Don’t use my method if you don’t want to, but don’t bash it. And please don’t use all caps in a post, it comes off as very unprofessional and it gets annoying for a lost of readers. Thank you.

O.G. That`s a great idea. I have a website that needs constant updating and didn`t have ant time to just sit and learn how to burn out a successful movie from scratch, however, with a lot of bumbling around I`m now at peace and can watch all the movies I want as this and other forums and mostly common sense have prevailed.
There`s a lot of newbies out there that need your help (without the superlatives and caps of course). Thanks guys for your help...

COLIN, I read that you have a step by step guide to burning dvd’s. Just wondering how to acquire a copy, it would be greatly appreciated!

If I were you, I’d just use Intervideo WinDVD Creator 2. It takes about an hour and a half (1 1/2) to burn avi to dvd.

hello guys,

First off, Colin, you are a god lol. you have opened my eyes to a new world of video converting and made my dvd entertainment experience much better lol. I figured I would post my recent finding just in cause anyone has had the same thing happen to them but heres the thing.

I did follow the step by step instructions Colin left but I was missing one thing. when I burnt the dvd right off that dvd author program, I didn’t get any sound with it. I then tried nero, same thing happend (it was an anime video so its not like I needed the sound cause I could’nt understand it anyways). But then I figured I was use a program that I use to back up my DVD collection called DVDShrink. It definitly worked with that program mainly because I could preview the video before it was burnt. The program uses the nero drivers too right in DVDShrink. AND the program is free and a good working program for it being free.

so yeah, I jsut thought I would tell you all how I changed the last few burning step but colin’s still works good. just my computer is poopy so I has to change it up smiley thanks guys for all the help!!

I would like to thank Colin for his post in April involving the step by step procedure for burning DVD using some .avi files to a DVD with menus and everything. It was quite easy, and his directions were not difficult at all. I have been working on this for about 2 weeks straight. The main problem was getting the sound to stay up with the movie. But here it worked quite nice. I just wanted to thank him and help put an end to all the hating that he is receiving.
