xvid to divx?

i have a divx/dvd player that doesnt support xvid (really annoying) so plz help me convert my xvid files into divx.

You may not have to do a full recompression to divx if the xvid file was encoded using a profile that is compatible with your player (xvid and divx are closely related codecs - they’re just slightly different flavors of mpeg-4). To test whether it is or not, just change the fourcc to XVID (using the fourcc changer from this page http://www.inmatrix.com/files/avic_download.shtml), burn it to a cd-rw, and have a look. If it doesn’t work, then I guess you’d have to do a full re-encode, using VirtualDub or some like tool.

Oops! I meant change the fourcc to DIVX or DX50!
