doc_iggy Guest | the error means just that... the format of the file is not supported by your player.
there can be several causes, such as, you are trying to use a player that cannot read the file, such as a .viv in media player. if this is the case get the right player for the type of file. or... the player installation could have become corrupted, to fix this uninstall the player, re-boot and then re-install the player, but...
more likely it’s that the file’s encoding is such that the player cannot recognize it, to fix this try re-encoding the file. microsoft has an encoder to download at:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5691ba02-e496-465a-bba9-b2f1182cdf24&displaylang=en
this prog works on .asf, .avi, .wmv and mpeg files
you may want to ensure that you have all required codecs installed as well. gspot will help with that.

doc_iggy Guest | oh yeah, you could be dealing with ms digital rights management. if it’s drm you’re pretty much hosed.
also you can try downloading the file again to insure that it made it to you without any corruption.
good luck,
