I have a movie that is MPEG2 using .ts, since its already mpeg2, do I still have to re-encode it to burn it to DVD-R?

I need help burning a Video TS file?
I used DVD Fab to extract TS files, then FicVTS to clean then shrink after cleaning the files, then DVD decrytpter to burn.

When I played it in the DVD it showed a color menu with ROOT
and under that Mode and folder normal
Does not play DVD.
ANY HELP?
I WANT TO USE FREE PROGRAMS

Doesn’t re-encoding from a hdtv .ts to mpg2 create massive files that won’t fit onto a ton of dvd5 disks?

An average HD movie like wyatt earp as .ts files takes FOUR dvd5 disks then u need to re-encode, i tried that with Desperado and it ended up having to burn loads of dvd5’s!

Waste of time, just stream them to your tv using the new 200mbit ethernet bridges from panasonic etc.

It was started because someone got a .ts file (streaming file) from a DVR. This is a common question...how do you take the .ts file and convert in to a burnable file that can be played in a dvd player. If you use a program that converts the file from .ts to mpg2 you loose quality.

I think the following statment will help with what people are asking: Is there a way you can take recorded video from a DVR and burn it on a DVD at the same quality it was recorded at.

The .ts file is the first step in the conversion...I would prefer to pull directly from the DVR hardrive, but that doesn’t seem possible...so recapturing as a .ts file is the answer so far. Now how to get that .ts file into a format that can be burned onto a dvd without loosing too much quality. Converting it to mpg2 is not the whole answer (mainly because you loose too much quality, especially if you are viewing the video on a large screen tv). I don’t have the answer, but hope this post may generate some answers.

p.s. For the record, we are not talking about the ts folder when you copy/rip a dvd.

Actually did you try renaming it? It does work. I changed it from .ts to .wm and it played fine in PowerDVD.

Rosebud: DVD Shrink is a freeware and is adjusting the folder eliminating some stuff that you don’t need or just compressing to fit a dvd5. Any video ts folder is ready for burning if the size is about 4.3 GB. For bigger folders you can use a dvd9 or try to shrink the folder for dvd5.DVD Decrypter is another popular freeware so Google for and download them.

Dragn i agree with you all the way about changing the file format BUT there are certain times that for example changing a quicktime format to avi may play in the windows media player so do not be 100% for all the cases.

even if you successfully convert and burn a ts file to dvd, you will still need a hdtv and a hd-dvd or blue ray-dvd player. It would not give you true hd through a normal tv and/or hd-dvd player (which still cost around $500)

Use Nero 7 go to Nero Vision & convert To DVD 5.1 & it’s done.

I have made a movie on imovie, and I am trying to burn it onto a DVD, but I need to convert it to a Video TS-File before roxio popcorn can burn it. Is there a program for a mac which can convert it for me.

dragn, YOU are a retard. Try renaming a .ts file to a .wm file and play it. It will bitch at you, saying the extension doesn’t match the file encoding, but asks if you want to try to play it anyway. Hit yes, and you’ll see your video! Don’t believe me? Try it and you’ll be surprised. Don’t put others down until you’ve tried it yourself dumbass.
